Mesh bridge
Joins nearby mesh islands over the internet: what you say in the mesh channel also reaches people in your area beyond radio range. While you have internet, your device also carries bridge and location-channel traffic for phones around you that have none.
Tor routing
Sends internet traffic through Tor, so relay operators see Tor's address instead of yours. Covers location channels and private messages delivered over the internet. Recommended: on.
Private message relays
When the mesh can't reach someone, private messages travel through these relays. The built-in ones are well-known addresses that a network filter can block, so you can add your own — including .onion addresses, which work while Tor routing is on.

Location notes
Pin notes to places with /drop, readable by anyone passing by for 24 hours. Needs location.
Privacy
Hide message previews
Notifications say that something arrived without showing the message, who sent it, or which location channel it came from. Anyone holding your locked phone learns nothing from the lock screen. On by default.
Danger zone
Erases all messages, keys, and identity from this device. Triple-tapping the TapXO wordmark does the same, instantly. Copies other people already hold cannot be erased.
Location channels
Chat with people near you using area channels. The area you pick is public and may reveal an approximate area; exact coordinates never leave this device.
TapXO only sends the area code for the level you pick. Your exact coordinates never leave this device and are never stored.
To show an area name, TapXO asks your phone's map service to name the centre of the area you picked — not where you are. Everyone in the same area sends the same point, and the lookup is skipped if it fails.
Public location channels
This is a public channel. Anyone using TapXO who picks the same area can read every message you post here, including people you do not know. Do not share your name, school, address, phone number, or photos of where you are.
TapXO turns your position into an area code such as DPX. It never sends or stores your exact coordinates. You can also pick an area by hand without turning location on.
Report any message that breaks the rules, and block anyone you do not want to hear from. Reports go to TapXO moderation.
